My name is Lakisha Dawson-Barnum. I am a Counselor as well as a Certified Life Coach. One of my greatest joys in life is helping individuals to facilitate growth and change in their lives. I serve as an advocate for families and individuals who may be seen but have silent voices. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a Master’s degree in School Counseling that I obtained from Albany State University. Currently, I have completed coursework in Leadership as well. In addition, I am a Certified Life Coach and obtained my certification through the Georgia Life Coach Academy in McDonough, GA. Through life coaching, I have devoted my practice to helping individuals find their purpose in life and identify with their true selves through established goals and other life projects.
I have 14 years of combined experience in substance abuse counseling, trauma-informed coaching, grief counseling/coaching, and school counseling. Areas of expertise in my mental health practice include substance abuse education, parenting skills, anger management, domestic violence, and trauma-informed care.
My specialty is in providing a safe and interactive environment in which to tackle difficult subjects, childhood trauma, or just to state feelings out loud. Being culturally competent is an area of self-awareness that I practice daily! I would love to work with you!
